This is a follow up on my Roast to Me post. If you haven’t read it please do so here, It’s a grand ole time.
Basically, I’m trying to see if I made any progress on those books.
Let’s find out.
First up, Jade City by Fonda Lee, Ah, darkness my old friend, this beast still sits wondering when it’ll see the light of day. & I wonder when I’m going to stop lying to myself that I’ll get to it soon.
The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang, I guess I’m still planning to die waiting to read this.
Shorefall by Robert Jackson Bennett, I actually read this. Yay me! One down and oh, too many to go.
The Tea Master and the Detective by Aliette de Bodard, Well, that victory was short lived. This story is as short as that victory and yet…
Artificial Condition; Rogue Protocol; and Exit Strategy by Martha Wells, Since writing the previous post I believe another was released and to no one’s surprise I haven’t read any of them.
The Thief series by Megan Whalen Tuner, I have read 1 ½ books in this 6? book series. So half a point for doing bare minimum effort. To be fair, I absolutely hated the first book and I put down the second one at the halfway point because it was a booore.
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, I actually forgot I had this so, nope, haven’t read it. Go Me for buying and not reading. Oh, wait, that isn’t the goal? Darn.
Lirael & Abhorsen by Garth Nix, Hey, hey, hey add two points to my net negative because I have read these two. I don’t know if this is a win since I didn’t enjoy these much 😦
Scooby- Doo! I have read a few of these comics but not all of the ones I have. I think I have 3 more to go. These are fun and I love the Scooby Gang so this is a win either way.
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli, A dragon better not eat me now because I finally read this and freaking LOVED it! Now to just read the last book in the series.
Fairest of All: A Tale of the Evil Queen by Serena Valentino, I wave at this one as I scroll on by. Shame, my name be thy.
The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal, By my calculations I’m still in the red. Hopefully, I’ll get to this before people start colonizing Mars.
A Spark of White Fire by Sangu Mandanna, One of my Favorite books of the year!! Also Past me was right to be super jealous. I am so glad I picked this up. Now if I could do that with the rest of these.
So, what have we learned? I buy books and then never read them, check. I then go on to roast myself over this in not one but two posts, check.
I’m only sorry for the books that languish in the ether of my kindle or on a shelf, you deserve better!
I guess the upside is they have each other for comfort in these trying times. I too, have them to turn to if only I remembered to do that.
Are any of these books on your never ending tbr pile? Let’s commiserate in the comments.
