Love You like a Love Song: A romance novel that is cliché but you still love it
You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
The High School setting doesn’t bring anything new to the field.
Honestly, the characters and the feel good moments of first love is what made this book fun to read.
Rare: A book with a female protagonist unlike any other
Chih the cleric in an Empress of Salt & Fortune by Nghi Vo,
She’s in charge of writing down the stories as authentically as possible.
This is stories nestled inside other stories and searching out the truth kernel inside.
Look at her now: A character who suffered a lot (physically/mentally) but eventually recovered and is now at the better end of life
Inej Ghafa from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, I cannot fathom the things she went through at such a young age. The strength and resilience in her faith was also something I admired.
Wolves: A book that got you out of a reading slump
It’s not a single book but a category, Middle Grade is usually where I go if I can’t read. There’s always an adventure and it’s just an all around fun time.
It ain’t me: A character you used to like but not anymore
Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. I don’t have a book character or at least nothing is coming to mind. However, the one that did pop up is Rory. I liked her at the time that I first watched this show but upon rewatching it I had a very different take. The show in general is awful and not something I could ever make myself watch again.
Feel Me: A character you can’t bear to see with anyone else but you
This isn’t to say I want them for myself so much as I don’t agree with who they’re being set up to be with in the end.
Obviously, I’m talking about Nikolai.
I like the two characters individually but together eh, I don’t get it.
Same Old Love: A book with an unoriginal and unrealistic romance
Will of the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg.
Her stories tend to be original and fun but this story was flat. Everything from the characters to the storyline just wasn’t dynamic or interesting.
It didn’t do anything new with the fae which I was hoping for.
The Heart Wants What it Wants: A book you regret finishing because you are miss reading it a lot
Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard,
The next book doesn’t come out until June 22, 2021 and I’ve been patiently waiting since February 2019.
I just need to know more!! I have re-read this at least a dozen times.
Back to you: A book you read again and again even though you have other books on your TBR pile
I could repeat Bloodwitch but that’s boring,
The Night Circus is something I like to re-read every now and then even though I have a horde of books I haven’t read yet. lol
Hit the Lights: A book that just made you forget everything else
These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong,
I practically read this in one sitting. I did read it in a day because I couldn’t put it down.
It’s just nonstop action and the mystery element just begs to be solved. I haven’t had this much fun reading in a while.
Tell me something I don’t know: A book people keep recommending you which you already have it in your TBR pile
Jade City by Fonda Lee,
Look I’m as frustrated as everybody else that I still have this languishing on the pile.
I will read it, one day, hopefully soon.
Not that I’ve been saying that all year lol
I can’t get enough: A book series/world you just want more and more of
A Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi,
I know we have a companion novel, A Crown of Wishes, I adored it! Also, the short story collection, Star Touched Stories.
I really loved these and this is why I want to explore more of the world and maybe some other deities.
I love her writing style it’s so pretty and it fits the dreamy and often sharpness of fairytales.
